RATM vs X-Factor Christmas #1 Update

According to NME.com Rage Against The Machine’s lead at the top of the charts has been cut from 30,000 sales to 9,000 sales as of Yesterday Evening.

But charts on MP3 download sites are mixed:

iTunes:

7Digital.com:

1. Portishead – “Chase the Tear” (7Digital Exclusive)
2. Joe McElderry – “The Climb”

5. Rage Against The Machine – “Killing in the Name”

Play.com:

1. Rage Against The Machine – “Killing in the Name”
2. Joe McElderry – “The Climb”
3. Rage Against The Machine – “Killing in the Name”

The multiple appearances of “Killing in the Name” are due to the song appearing on multiple albums, or in “radio edit” form.

Paul McCartney has also backed the RATM campaign, as has Dave Grohl.
